Black Canary is able to emit a supersonic scream called her canary scream as well as having extraordinary fighting skills as taught to her by Wildcat. The powerful scream can demolish anything in its path.

After Black Canary discovered that her mentor, Wildcat, was participating in meta-human battles she asked Green Arrow to help her get him to stop, but Wildcat didn't want to quit. So Canary made a deal with the ringleader of the battles, Roulette. If she fights Wildcat and wins, Roulette would have to ban him from cage fighting, and if Canary lost she would leave Wildcat alone forever. However, Green Arrow wouldn't let Canary fight Wildcat, so he gassed her and took her place against Wildcat.

Arrow faked his death by taking a pill that puts his body in metabolic stasis for a few minutes to convince Wildcat to stop fighting and it worked. After he woke up, all three of them returned to the Watchtower, but before they left, Canary toppled the arena using her sonic scream.

When Huntress and Question were going after crime boss Steven Mondragora, Black Canary and Green Arrow were assigned to guard him. He eventually got away and they had to fight him. Canary used her sonic scream of Mondragora but it had little effect. Finally, Huntress cut a rope that was holding a heavy crate on top of Mondragora and he was taken into custody.

Black Canary also enjoys a private relationship with Green Arrow.
